What’s more fitting than to watch V for Vendetta on Guy Fawkes Day! (That was purely coincidental.)
On November 5th, 1605, Guy Fawkes and his followers attempted to blow up the Parliament of Englnad in London to overthrow the Protestant reign. If they had suceeded (they were found out on the very last min.), British history would have been changed forever.
The failure of the Gunpowder Plot is now celebrated with huge Bon Fire nights (fireworks) in cities in England, with the one in Lewes being the biggest in the country. On the same day last year, I was on a train from London to my school residence. I had no idea what it was at the time. All I knew was the train was literally jam-packed (unsual) and when the train stopped at Lewes (the stop before the one I had to get off), everyone POURED out!
About Lewes visited & written on another day:
Lewis is just another larger town near our castle. It’s famous for its huge Guy Fawkes Bonfire Night (Guy Fawkes is the the guy who tried to blow up the Parliament building in London some centuries ago due to the Catholic-Protestant conflict at the time. If he succeeded, it would’ve changed the entire British history). I was there purely by coincidence. They were repairing the rail track from H.Heath so I had to take a connecting coach to Lewis and catch the train to the station where I had to get off. So instead of heading straight for the train when I got to Lewis, I decided to take a detour into the town. & I loved this little town!
