Olympics Cypress and the View

Vancouver is not exactly an ideal place for young, ambitious and career-oriented people. The tempo is a bit slow and excellent job opportunities is scarce in comparison to other cities. But it is undeniably one of the most beautiful places that… (continue reading…)

…. many would not forget once they visited. This time we went to North Vancouver to visit some of the places that we frequently visited some years ago.

At the Capilano Salmon Hatchery. Other than the famous Capilano Suspension bridge, there’s another site near the area where people could see salmon. There are hiking trails all around this salmon hatchery. But some parts are now closed due to somethings need to be fixed before the trails can be reopened again. Otherwise, this is a pretty nice hiking trail.

Poster about the life cycle of Pacific salmon.

Lots of fishy!

The gift store has a sign that says it’s closed until 2010 April. But that “until April 2010″ part was crossed out. Will they ever be back?

Then we went up to the Cypress Mountain where some of the Winter Olympics games took place here a few months ago. A lot of the things from that time are still not cleaned up yet.

Lions Gate Bridge. The old bridge that links North Vancouver to Downtown Vancouver or Vancouver in general.

That little piece of land by the ocean was where I spent 3 years of my university years. University of British Columbia has one of the most beautiful campus; and has one of the most spectacular views.

Unbelievably blue.

There was still snow everywhere but it’s almost gone now.

These are not cannons. These are snow makers during the Winter Olympics that took place a few months earlier here. There was not enough snow so they had to get these snow makers in to make the artificial snow. The ironic thing is, right after the Olympics ended, it started snow storming.

This is where you put a snow maker.
